One of Derry’s best known hotels has been awarded the prestigious government backed Investor in People (IIP) award.

The Best Western White Horse Hotel, which employs almost 50 people, were one of 37 organisations from across the north to be awarded the accreditation.

The award recognises work places which show a strong commitment to their employees and is is the recognised standard for best practice in recruitment, training, management effectiveness, learning and development and performance management.

The White Horse received their award from Minister for Employment and Learning, Danny Kennedy at a ceremony in Hillsborough Castle.

He says the award recognises the “hard work and commitment in effectively managing and developing their most important asset –people.

“The importance of organisations investing in their people is essential in this difficult economic climate.”

MPA Recruitment, the Chamber of Commerce and Galliagh Nursery School also received IIP status.
