Auditions are set to get underway in Derry and Letterkenny for a brand new children’s radio drama which will be broadcast on Highland Radio later this year.

Producer of the series Eileen Walsh said: “Last week we cast the part of the hero of the series, Casey McGonigle. It was unbelievably difficult. There were some extremely talented boys, but in the end we could only choose one.

“This week we are looking for actors to play the adult roles in the radio drama, which will be recorded this summer at Highland Radio. We are casting for three roles. We need a narrator for the series and also someone to play the evil villain, a nasty businessman called Mr Bee. We are also looking for someone to play a magic granny.

“It’s very exciting, especially since this will be the first children’s radio drama produced by Highland under the Sound and Vision scheme. We have found a great boy from Letterkenny to play the part of our hero Casey. Once we have found the other three actors for the series, we would hope to start recording in the next few weeks.”

Auditions for The Adventures of the Casey McGonigle Gang take place in Derry today, Friday, July 1 from 11am at the Context Gallery, Playhouse, Artillery Street and at Highland Radio Studios, Pine Hill, Letterkenny tomorrow, Saturday July 2 from 11am.

Participants are asked to bring along a short CV (one page max) giving their contact details and relevant experience.
