Sinn Féin Councillor Mickey Cooper has asked Transport Ni and the police to carry out an exercise to deter illegal parking in the Aberfoyle and Northlands areas.
Colr. Cooper said he hoped this would take place in the next few days.
“This will not solve all the problems being encountered by residents, but it would be a positive step in the right direction to help the situation,” he said, adding: “There are long standing issues around commuter parking and the high volume of traffic travelling through the area, and the subsequent inconvenience this is creating for residents, pedestrians and motorists.
“To deter people from illegal parking, blocking driveways, I feel that as the new term is about to start it’s important to raises awareness particularly with new students about the problems being encountered in the area.”
