Sinn Fein councillor, Kevin Campbell, has described the theft of Foyle Search and Rescue collection boxes as a ‘sad state of affairs’.

Foyle Search and Rescue was the former Mayor’s charity during his year in office.

Councillor Kevin Campbell said: “It’s a very sad state of affairs that anyone would even contemplate doing this sort of thing. I saw throughout my year as mayor the work and dedication of the volunteers of Foyle Search and Rescue.

“I would urge anyone with information on the culprits to contact the PSNI straight away.”

Last week, it was reported that charity boxes belonging to the charity had been stolen from various locations throughout the city.
