An annual charity breakfast in Limavady is being renamed in honour of the late Brian Brown, a former solicitor and Limavady councillor.
Mr Brown passed away in November 2014 after a brief illness, aged in his late seventies.
Next month, the Rotary Club of Limavady will hold a charity breakfast on the Friday morning closest to St. Valentine’s Day in the Roe Park Hotel in Brian’s memory.
“For years this meal has been known as ‘Brian’s Breakfast’ because of the amazing amount of work which their former member Brian Brown put into the event,” said rotarian Peter Jack. As we all know, Brian died before Christmas and his loss has been keenly felt, not only by his family, but also by his Rotary Club, his Lions Club and all his myriad of friends and business acquaintances, to whom Brian was so helpful and kind over the years.”
‘Brian’s Breakfast’ will be held on Friday, 13th February. There will be a portrait of Brian at the entrance on the way in to the breakfast.
“Brian’s family are fully behind the renaming of the breakfast event, and all proceeds and profits are for the ongoing much needed work of Rotary International who support international and local charities,” said Mr Jack.
The event is between 7am-10am. Those hoping to attend are advised to buy tickets for £10 beforehand from a local Rotarian.
“If in any doubt please contact Club Secretary Dr. Howard Wood via email on firstname.lastname@example.org or call 028 777 63344.”
Mr Jack added: “The Limavady Rotary Club look forward to hosting this breakfast in memory and honour of the late, great irreplaceable Brian Brown at this fantastic community event.”
