Big hearted members of the Derry public are being asked to donate clothes for children who will arrive in the city from Chernobyl this week.

Over the past number of years a local branch of Chernobyl Childrens International have been providing respite for children from Chernobyl during a month in the summer. On Wednesday, volunteer families will meet 22 children and young people who will fly into Belfast International airport before departing to locations in Derry and Donegal where hosts will accommodate them for a four week stay.

Organisers are asking people across the North West to donate boys and girls clothing and size 8-10 ladies clothing for some of the teenage girls. Contact Emma on 07775855638 for more information. The organisation say any clothing not used will be donated to local charities.
