Derry’s Christmas Lights Switch On will be returning to Guildhall Square this year, it has now been confirmed.
The Council confirmed the massive event, which attracts tens of thousands of people each year, will return to its original venue next month.
Santa is expected to make a guest appearance at the event, which will take place on Thursday, November 20th.
The move follows public concerns raised after the event was moved from its traditional home at Guildhall Square to Ebrington last year.
And the announcement comes after the Journal revealed this morning that the Christmas Market is moving in the opposite direction, from the Guildhall to Ebrington this year.
A council spokeswoman told the Journal: “The official Christmas switch on will return this year on November 20th to the Guildhall Square.”
She added that “a series of themed events, Children’s Festive Frolics, will take place on December 6th, 7th, 13th and 14th in the Craft Village from 1pm to 5pm each day with storytelling, arts and crafts, puppet shows and much, much more.”
