Derry environmental lobby, Zero Waste North West believes implementing a “circular economy” in the city will help fundamentally alter lives.
Speaking on behalf of Zero Waste North West, Judi Logue said a new feasibility study into developing a “circular economy and zero waste strategy” for the entire Derry and Strabane district will make a difference.
“Zero Waste offers a fresh approach to dealing with waste, shifting the focus from ‘waste management’ to efficient resource management,” she said.
“We are delighted to play a key role in the district changing from a conventional linear economy to a circular economy which will alter people’s lives for the better by promoting economic growth, creating jobs, and reducing environmental impacts,” she added.
The collaborative project will be carried out by Eunomia Research and Consulting Limited with support from Council, ZWNW and the Department of Agriculture, Environment and Rural Affairs.
