If you want to do something a little bit different with the kids over the next few nights, then The Chinese State Circus at the Millennium Forum is definitely worth a visit.
This spectacular show runs at the Derry venue from tonight, the 8th of February to Thurs 10th February.
A breathtaking fusion of precision acrobatics, Shaolin martial arts, dazzling circus skills, colourful characters from Peking Opera, physical theatre and drama choreographed to an original music score, the Chinese State Circus is a night all the family will enjoy.
From gravity-defying gymnastics to the seemingly impossible body manipulations of the hand-balancer; from the leaping, rolling somersaulting repertoire of the hoop divers to the lavish tradition of the Lion Dance – the undisputed masters of physical theatre will have the audience on the edge of their seats.
All the performers come from China and are trained in the Chinese tradition of Ma Xi, or hippodrama (horse theatre). The show combines kung fu martial arts from the Shaolin Temple, artists from the Peking Opera and other Chinese speciality acts.
The Chinese State Circus will appear at the Millennium Forum from tonight Tuesday 8th to Thursday 10th February.
