One of Derry’s most popular pubs has closed, the Journal can reveal
The Clarendon Bar closed its doors yesterday with the loss of five jobs. Staff are said to be devastated by the news.
Minister for the Environment Mark H Durkan said: “It was very sad yesterday when I heard about the closure of the Clarendon Bar. It will be a blow to patrons but will be a truly major blow to staff. I have many happy memories of the place.”
Customers have taken to social media to mourn the loss of a bar which has been part of the city centre fabric for decades.
One said: “No way great bar too and always seemed busy enough why?”
Another added: “Shocking news indeed. Hopefully someone will take it on and rock the joint. They were a great bunch of staff.”
