The crew of the Derry Clipper along with their skipper, Sean McCarter, have been nominated for the Henri Lloyd Clipper Race Seamanship Award.

They have been nominated for “their actions to successfully recover Andrew Taylor, who spent 90 minutes overboard in the stormy Pacific. The crew remained calm and determined during an extremely challenging situation.”

A number of comments have praised Sean’s “superb leadership” with Andrew’s father Tony Taylor saying, “A fantastic team effort by the whole crew to save my son - I have total admiration for their calmness, professionalism, dedication, and perseverance in what must have been a very traumatic time.”

Friends of the Henri Lloyd Facebook are voting for who they think should win - with the Derry crew currently sitting in top place. The total ‘Likes’ accrued for each nomination by 6pm on Sunday 6th July will be taken into account by the judging panel in their final decision.
