Community groups in Derry are asking for the support of local people to support the family of a critically ill infant.
Baby Sofia Parke was born just under three weeks ago with left heart syndrome - and is due to undergo emergency surgery in Birmingham today after her condition deteriorated.
In Sofia’s short life her family have already had to spend time between Belfast, Birmingham and Derry while she undergoes tests and treatments.
However yesterday the tiny tot’s health took a turn for the worse and her parents have been forced to fly back to Birmingham with her so that she had undergo open heart surgery.
Colr. Gary Donnelly on behalf of the Creggan Community Collective asked that people donate if they can to help family members travel to Birmingham to support Sofia’s parents Bronagh and Stephen.
Donations can be left at the Creggan Community Collective or the Rosemount Resource Centre.
