Carnival of Colours comes to life

Waiting for Video...

Details of the seventh annual Carnival of Colours - which promises to be bigger and better than ever - were released on Tuesday by In Your Space who were themselves celebrating their tenth birthday.

The outdoor festival, pitched at children of all ages - will this year take place on Saturday May 31 and Sunday June 1 at St. Columb’s Park.

In Your Space have promised that this year’s event will be jam-packed with top treats featuring the very best of international street theatre and local acts, interspersed with an eclectic mix of side shows and attractions to guarantee a full quota of belly laughs and truly magical experience for all the family. A wide range of comic shows will be presented from some of the world’s funniest international artists including Jonathan Kay, the Dansko Gida, Jonathan Taylor, the Lords of Strut, the Magilligans and all with support from young performers from the Belfast Community Circus School and the North West Community Circus School.

Adding to the family atmosphere there will be a host of local walkaboit characters, live music, storytelling, drumming and art workshops, balloon modelling and face painting as well as an array of international foods to tempt the grumbliest of tummies! By night the festival will offer something for the grown ups - with some of Northern Ireland’s top bands set to perform at the Big Top event on Saturday night.

A special addition to this year’s celebration will be the ‘Live Laughter at the Big Top’ on Sunday night featuring Mickey Bartlett, Paul Currie and a host of other leading comedians.

Nicky Harley, Artistic Director said: “The whole weekend promises to be a hugely colourful event where you can laugh by day and dance by night.”
