A spokesperson for Derry City Council has said the council is monitoring progress on the redevelopment of the Corned Beef Tin in Creggan.

The spokesperson said that progress to date had been “slow” on the well known community hub, adding:

“Council are not aware of any cessation to the contract for the construction of the new ‘Corned Beef Tin’ community centre but it is aware that progress on site has been slow recently, as the contractor resolves a few technical matters with its suppliers. Council continues to monitor the situation closely and expects progress on site to revert to normal shortly.”

The centre’s revamp is expected to cost a total of £800,000.
