A corner shop on Derry’s Academy Road has been targeted by robbers for the tenth time.

Last night a man entered Academy Stores, on the corner of De Burgh Terrace, and told a female member of staff to “go out the back and lie on the floor.”

He then proceeded to fill a carrier bag with money from the shop’s till and left the shop.

Business owner, Brian Donaghey says the incident is the second time his premises has been targeted since the New Year. In total his shop has been robbed ten times over 12 years.

Mr Donaghey says no one has been prosecuted to date for the latest six incidents at the busy local shop.

More on this story in tomorrow’s Journal.
