Staff at the Derry branch of leading high street insurance retailer, Open + Direct held a ‘photo finish’ to celebrate a fantastic fundraising total from their recent ‘Night at the Races’ event at Icon Bar and Nightclub, based on Dungiven Road.

The insurance company’s charity committee have so far raised £3,800 for their charity partners - NI Chest, Heart and Stroke and NI Cancer Fund for Children - through colleague fundraising in the past two months.

John Laverty, Area Manager for Open + Direct said this was only the beginning of the charity fundraising campaign and that the plans had only been drawn up a few months ago.

He said: “In March our charity committee met for the first time to put in place a fundraising plan for these two very worthy causes.

at the Races’ was the first large event we’ve held and we’re delighted to see such a great total from the night but we’re not stopping there! We had two teams taking part in the Belfast Marathon Relay and a host of campaigns and fundraisers planned for the year ahead.”
