Derry in August 1986

As is the case now, in Derry in 1986, community football was a big thing. In today’s short slideshow we have some under 11 teams and we even managed to track down a photograph of the old Bull Park over 35’s team. We’ll let our readers decide what age the players would be now!

Community was also the name of the game at the Ballymagroarty Festival and we have a special treat for anyone who was a majorette or a bonny baby that year.

As ever, the images in today’s slideshow are a small example of the vast Journal archives. You’ll find the best of these photos in the Journal on Tuesday, Friday and Sunday.
