Hundreds of republicans braved winter conditions on Tuesday night to pay tribute to Creggan woman Caroline Moore who died on Sunday.

The mother of four, from Rathlin Drive, died from a suspected asthma attack at her home.

Her remains were brought to the Creggan republican monument at Cromore Gardens on Tuesday evening and were received by a crowd of more than 400 people.

A Tricolour was placed over her coffin and a violinist played a lament while the flags at the monument were lowered to half mast.

The large crowd then followed the cortege as the coffin was carried to the family home at Rathlin Drive.

Mrs Moore is survived by her husband, Declan (Mada), and children Paul, Dannielle, Shakira and Declan Og.

Her Requiem Mass will take place St Mary’s Church, Creggan, at 10am on Thursday.
