Motorists travelling between Inch road and Fahan village and Drumfries and Meendoran will meet road works along these routes from today.

These works are part of Donegal County Council’s nine million euro Restoration Improvement Programme funded by the Department of Transport as agreed and announced at the Inishowen Electoral Committee earlier in the year.

The works between Drumfries and Meendoran are urgent pavement repairs, by contract and replacement of culverts by Donegal County Council. They will be completed today, 13th May. This road will subsequently be Surface Dressed under the above programme in June 2014, although this date is weather and resource dependent.

The works at Fahan are taking place between Inch Road and Fahan village and comprise full road resurfacing by contract. The works begin today, 13th May and are programmed to be completed by Friday, 16th May. Stop/go traffic control will be in operation on the 13th and 14th May and delays should be expected on these days in particular.

The Council’s Roadworks programme will be ongoing throughout the summer with the full list of Restoration and Surface Dressing projects as listed on the website, www.donegalcoco.ie.

A spokesperson for the Council told the Journal that road programmes and dates are “fluid” and information on traffic management and delays will, “as far as possible” be released via local radio and on their social media sites. For updates on roads works etc, you can follow them on Twitter @roadsdcc or @donegalcouncil.
