Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann 2013 would like to raise awareness of the traditional music and cultural heritage in Derry city through its highly collectable fleadh programme publication, and they want you to get involved.
The Fleadh ‘clár’, as it is known, contains all of the competition and events listings for the week-long music festival, commencing on 12th August 2013.
Selling thousands of copies each year, the clár is an essential handbook of information for the average fleadh-goer, but it traditionally includes a selection of historical and topical articles pertaining to the host town of the event.
The Fleadh organisers are asking ‘Derry Journal’ readers to help them in presenting Derry’s rich cultural heritage to the many thousands of people who will arrive in Derry for what is sure to be the pinnacle of next year’s cultural programme.
Are there any personalities that you believe have been ‘instrumental’ in the promotion of traditional music and Irish culture over the past fifty years?
Do you feel that Derry has contributed something significant to Irish cultural heritage?
Are there any photographs in your collection capturing the spirit of previous fleadhanna in the city which you would like to share in the Fleadh publication?
All ideas and contributions are welcome, and those who would like to get involved are being asked to get in touch with the fleadh team at Cultúrlann Uí Chanáin before Friday, 9th November.
