A 26-year-old man has appeared in court accused of child abduction.
The man, who cannot be named to protect the identity of the alleged injured party, faces one charge of child abduction on March 2.
Defence solicitor Paddy MacDermott told the Derry Magistrates Court his client denies the offence. He said the 26-year-old went to bed after consuming alcohol and when he woke up ‘this young girl was in bed beside him, he has no idea how she got there and he didn’t invite her there’.
The defendant was remanded in custody and will appear in court again via videolink on March 10.
