Couple for trial on chemist robbery charges

A man and woman have been returned for trial accused of the robbery of a local chemist.

Elaine Bradley, of Altcar Park, and David Anthony Comiskey, of Chamberlain Street, both 41, jointly face three charges of robbery of prescription medicines on January 10.

Bradley is further charged with possession of a hammer and Comiskey is charged with possession of a kitchen knife.

The charges relate to an alleged incident in Lower Great James Street.

The defendants declined to say anything in answer to the charges and defence solicitors accepted there is a case for their clients to answer.

They were remanded in custody and will appear at the crown court for arraignment on May 15.
