A man who damaged his sister’s car with an iron bar has been told ‘you shouldn’t be taking the law into your own hands’.
James McClean, with an address in Burtonport, Letterkenny, pleaded guilty to causing damage to a car on July 15.
The 43-year-old also admitted disorderly behaviour in the Carnhill area of the city.
Defence counsel Ciaran Roddy told the Derry Magistrates Court his client is ‘extremely apologetic’ for his behaviour.
He added that this occurred ‘in the back drop of severe family issues, matters of the most serious nature’.
District Judge Barney McElholm imposed a conditional discharge for two years and ordered McClean to pay £75 compensation for the damage caused.
