Defendant denies rape and sexual assault

A 32-year-old man has denied raping a child under 13 years of age.

The man, who cannot be named for legal reasons, denied a total of nine sex offences allegedly committed between February 2004 and February 2011.

They include indecent assault, attempted rape and sexual assault of a child.

Derry Crown Court heard the complainant is now 17-years-old and that there is a familial relationship between her and the defendant.

Another man is also charged in connection with the sexual abuse and he will appear in court at a later date.

The 32-year-old was released on continuing bail until September 12.
