A Derry man has appeared in court charged in connection with robberies at two Inishowen service stations last Tuesday.

A Derry man has appeared in court charged in connection with robberies at two Inishowen service stations last Tuesday.

John Paul Harkin, (35) Millsdale Crescent, Derry, was remanded in custody at Derry Magistrates Court.

He is charged with robbing 1500 pounds from Texaco Filling Station, Muff and 800 pounds plus a quantity of used scratch cards and credit card receipts from Point Service Station, Quigley’s Point on Tuesday, August 12th.

Harkin is also charged with taking a Ford Transit van without authority in Derry, also on the same date and handling stolen goods in Derry on August 14th, namely banking documentation (cheques) obtained in the Republic of Ireland.

He will appear in court again on September 11th.
