A street drinker who made an obscene gesture and became ‘verbally aggressive’ towards police has been fined £200.

Damien Mahoney, of John Street, pleaded guilty to disorderly behaviour on May 12.

The 50-year-old made an obscene gesture and shouted to police on patrol.

When they asked him to moderate his behaviour he said, ‘Oh, for f**** sake, you’re always f****** hassling me’.

Defence solicitor Seamus Quigley said his client has been a street drinker for 20 years.
