A former teacher who slapped a police officer has received a suspended jail term.
Treasa Doherty, of Carnhill, pleaded guilty to assaulting a police officer on January 4.
Derry Magistrate’s Court heard that police went to the 52-year-old’s home after a warrant was issued for her arrest. A police officer was slapped by Doherty after he searched a bathroom in her home, which she was ‘screaming’ to use.
District Judge Barney McElholm suspended a three month jail term for a year and ordered Doherty to pay £100 compensation.
