A 26-year-old man who stole beer and cigarettes from a city centre off-licence has been jailed for a month.

David Monteith, whose has an address in Cookstown, pleaded guilty to the theft of items worth £32.21 from Drinx off-licence in Sackville Street.

The offence was committed on June 29.

Defence solicitor Seamus Quigley told the court his client has already ‘paid a substantial price’ for the theft.

The 26-year-old’s licence was revoked and he was ordered to spend two further years in custody.
