Derry Magistrate’s Court heard allegations Jaeger fraudulently obtained airline flight tickets using a former partner’s credit card.

An investigating officer told the court they believed they could connect Jaeger to the charges.

Derwin Harvey, defence solicitor, said that there had been a breakdown of the relationship between Jaeger and his then partner.

He added Jaeger only recently became aware that police from this jurisdiction had been seeking him.

Mr Harvey said Jaeger went to a police station in Edinburgh and co-operated.

He added that the 49-year-old ‘intends to compensate the injured party without any admission of liability’.

Jaeger was released on his own bail of £250 and ordered to sign bail four times a week in Edinburgh.

He also surrendered his passport to police and was ordered to have no contact with the injured party or any of her family members.

Judge Barney McElholm said that Jaeger would not be required back in the Derry court ‘until there is significant progress in the case’.

The case was adjourned and will be mentioned again on September 22.
