A teenager who stole from people inside Limavady’s public library has been jailed for three months.

Michael Connors, of Strabane Old Road, pleaded guilty to two charges of theft on February 6. He also admitted two charges of failing to answer bail.

Derry Magistrates Court heard the 19-year-old went into Limavady library and stole a woman’s handbag. He then returned the following day and stole three memory sticks from a man’s laptop bag.

Defence solicitor Elaine Kirk told the court her client has issues with substance abuse and doesn’t have any recollection of the thefts.

Jailing the teen, Deputy District Judge Liam McStay said he was a ‘self-centred individual’. He also fined Connors £200.
