The injured party woke up in the early hours of the morning to the sound of banging and his car alarm going off.

He saw two males standing at the back of the vehicle and they ran off.

A window on the car had been smashed and fragments of glass were found on Mellon’s clothes when he was arrested.

Suspending a three month sentence for 18 months, District Judge Barney McElholm also ordered the 24-year-old to pay £500 compensation.
