Teen in court on car crime charges

A teenager has appeared on court charged in connection with a car that was set on fire at the weekend.

Kevin Jason Shields, of Northland Road, is charged with aggravated vehicle taking causing damage, theft of cash, a scratch card and a lighter and going equipped for theft with a multi tool.

The charges relate to an alleged incident in the Ringfort Road area of the city on May 10.

The 18-year-old is further charged with the burglary of a house in Carnhill on April 28.

There was no bail application and Shields was remanded in custody to appear in court again via videolink on June 2.
