A man who was disorderly in Altnagelvin Hospital has been given a conditional discharge.
John Paul McClelland, of Moyola Walk, pleaded guilty to disorderly behaviour on April 24.
Derry Magistrates Court was told police took the 33-year-old to hospital because they were concerned about his safety. McClelland was in a waiting area and refused to co-operate with police. He began shouting at patients, requesting cigarettes from them and telling the police to ‘f***’ off. Imposing a conditional discharge for 12 months, Deputy District Judge John Connolly said this is ‘quite a sad case with quite a sad history’.
