A 27-year-old woman has appeared in court accused of stealing over £32,000 from a church.

Lyndsey Bredin, of Primity Crescent, Newbuildings, faces a total of 19 charges of theft by employee.

The offences relate to alleged thefts from Culmore Parish Church between March 2010 and October 2011.

During a brief hearing at the local magistrates court Bredin spoke to confirm her identity and that she understood the charges.

The 26-year-old declined to say anything in answer to the charges or to call any evidence on her own behalf.

Paddy McDaid, defending, accepted there is a case for his client to answer.

She was released on her own bail of £500 and will appear at the crown court for arraignment on February 13.
