A woman has appeared in court wearing her pyjamas after she was arrested for criminal damage.
Suzanne McNicholl, of Keenaught Terrace, Limavady, admitted breaking six of her neighbour’s windows on January 30. She was brought into the dock wearing a pair of pyjamas.
Derry Magistrates Court heard the 41-year-old broke her neighbour’s windows with a hammer, causing damage of around £100.
McNicholl was arrested and during a search of her home the hammer was discovered. She denied breaking the windows during police interview and claimed that she hadn’t left her flat all day.
Defence solicitor David Brewster told the court his client’s windows had been broken up to fifteen time and she believed her neighbour was responsible for this.
He added that the most recent breakage was earlier that week and this ‘resulted in her snapping’.
The solicitor said the 41-year-old has reported this to police and on this occasion she acted ‘foolishly’.
District Judge Barney McElholm imposed a conditional discharge for two years and declined to make a compensation order for the damage.
