A judge has called a man who assaulted a teenage girl in an unprovoked attack a ‘worthless piece of humanity’.
District Judge Barney McElholm made the comment as 42-year-old Liam Anthony Bradley appeared at the local magistrates court.
Bradley, of no fixed abode, pleaded guilty to punching the 16-year-old girl in the city centre on Saturday.
Judge McElholm jailed Bradley for a total of 14 months and said ‘if I could give you five times this sentence I would’.
He added that the 42-year-old has a previous conviction for an unprovoked assault on a female and is a ‘danger to the general public’.
