Credit Union Day in Derry on Thursday

This Thursday, October 17, a powerful global network of 56,000 Credit Unions, including Derry Credit Union, will be celebrating the history, achievements and benefits of the Credit Union Movement and the role it plays in our communities.

The theme for the day “Credit Unions Unite For Good: A Better Way” sums up the reason credit unions exist. In the face of all challenges, credit unions have always existed to serve their members.

Credit unions play a vital role in the economic development and stability of the communities that they serve, helping people improve their lives through access to affordable financial services. At a time when many banks are closing their local branches, the continued presence of the credit union in the community is of critical importance.

Derry Credit Union provides financial services to almost 29,000 adult members and almost 6,000 minors.

Some of the benefits, which members enjoy, are: Savings, which attract a reasonable dividend; Low cost borrowing, Free Life Savings and Loan Protection Insurance, Death Benefit Insurance, Foreign Exchange, Free Money Management Counselling, No Administration Costs and Pre Paid Debit Card.

Derry Credit Union is celebrating International Credit Union Day by inviting all its members to visit the Abbey Street office throughout the day and enjoy some refreshments.

Members who make a transaction on the day or visit Derry CU website between now and Thursday midnight will have a chance of winning a prize. There will also be a separate minors’ draw. So, everyone is welcome to come along on Thursday and celebrate International Credit Union Day at Derry Credit Union.
