A schoolboy from Newtowncunningham has appeared in court charged in connection with a riot on Derry’s Madams Bank Road.
The 13-year-old, who cannot be named for legal reasons, is charged with riotous behaviour and damaging a police landrover on March 11.
An investigating officer told Derry Magistrates Court she believed she could connect the teen to the charges.
He was released on his own bail of £50, with a cash surety of £500 to reside at an address in Co.Donegal.
The teen was also banned from entering the 6 counties on Northern Ireland except for court appearances.
District Judge Barney McElhom said if the 13-year-old was over 18 he would have been “very much in danger of being remanded in custody for this type of offence.”
The case will be mentioned again on April 5.
