Limavady Borough Council has spent around £3,000 on repairing damage to Drumsurn’s only bus shelter in the past year, it has been revealed.

The repair bill has been spent on just three separate incidents, according to Council.

In one incident alone, the most recent was two weekends ago when the shelter was completely trashed (see picture) - cost the Council £1,600.

Local Sinn Fein councillor Brenda Chivers has asked Council to consider undertaking a consultation with residents about the shelter.

“We are asking people to respect property and to make their concerns known to the Council if they would like to see it removed or to remain,” said Colr. Chivers.

“Given these Council figures it’s a lot of ratepayers money wasted, and it could be put to better use in the community. I am appealing for the people invovled in this vandalism to think twice and have respect for their community.”
