A man who admitted driving without insurance for the twelfth time has been fined a total of £425.

Stephen Alexander Duddy, of Broomhill Avenue, pleaded guilty to having no licence, no insurance, being an unaccompanied learner driver and having no L plates displayed.

The charges relate to an incident in the Crescent Link area on June 11.

Derry Magistrates Court heard police stopped Duddy as he was riding an 800cc motorbike. He opted to show his licence and insurance at the police station but never produced them.

Defence solicitor Paddy MacDermott told the court the bike was owned by a friend of Duddy’s and he had ridden it a short distance. He said the 44-year-old ‘should have known better’.
