A 28-year-old man has appeared in court accused of attempting to choke a woman.
Jason Roulston, of Clarendon Street, is further charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm, possessing a pair of scissors with intent to commit an offence and possessing cannabis.
The charge relates to an alleged domestic violence incident on June 26.
An investigating officer told Derry Magistrates Court he believed he could connect Roulston to the charges.
The 28-year-old was released on his own bail of £500 and banned from being drunk in public.
He was also banned from contacting the alleged injured party.
Roulston will appear in court again on August 22.
