A 31 year-old Portuguese national has been remanded on bail at Derry Magistrate’s Court charged with drug smuggling.

Nelson Reis (31), with an address at 66 Loughbracken, Pomeroy, faces a charge of importing cannabis resin into Northern Ireland at City of Derry Airport.

He was arrested after disembarking from a flight from Faro to Derry Thursday, August 2. Border Force officers found more than half a kilo of suspected cannabis in baggage at the airport.
