A man who admitted endangering the safety of an aircraft has been told he should be ‘under no illusions’ when it comes to his sentencing next month.

Joanthan McDaid, of Creggan Heights, pleaded guilty to one charge of endangering the safety of an aircraft.

The charge relates to an incident on September 25, 2015.

Sentencing was adjourned for a Probation Pre-Sentence Report to be compiled.

Derry Crown Court Judge Philip Babington told the 18-year-old not to be ‘under no illusions’ as to what will happen on the next occasion.

The judge said they were ‘serious charges’ and in his opinion the custody threshold had been crossed.

McDaid was released on continuing bail and will be sentenced on September 30.
