Armed garda patrols will be deployed along the border from tonight (Friday) as security is stepped up to curb an upsurge in cross border crime the ‘Journal’ has learned.
It is believed two highly organised ‘travelling’ criminal gangs from Limerick and Dublin are behind the spate of crime in the area.
A spokesperson from the Gardai Press office stated:
“ An Garda Siochana work closely with the PSNI and other agencies in combating cross border criminal activity. For operational reasons we do not comment on the specifics with regard to policing arrangements.”
