Arrests after stolen car collides with police vehicle in Derry

Police in Derry have arrested two males in connection with the theft of a vehicle and a burglary in the Ivy Mead area of the Waterside in the early hours of Thursday.

Detective Inspector David McQuade said the men, aged 20 and 21, were arrested after a stolen car rammed a police vehicle at Benview Road.

Three police officers received minor injuries following the collision and damage was also caused to a stationary vehicle and the garden wall of a nearby property.

The men are currently assisting police with their enquiries at Strand Road PSNI Station.
