Detectives are appealing for information following a shooting and arson incident in the Cornshell Fields area of Derry in the early hours of this morning.

Shortly after midnight police were alerted after a number of masked men were spotted at a house where a car had been set alight.

Detective Inspector Cherith Craig said: “On arrival of police it was established that a shot had been fired at the front door of this house and a car had been set alight. No one was injured during this incident, however the occupants of the dwelling were left very badly shaken.

“I would ask anyone who may have witnessed this incident or who has any information to contact Detectives at Strand Road on the non emergency number 101. Or, if someone would prefer to provide information without giving their details they can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers and speak to them anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
