A woman accused of attempting to murder her boyfriend has been refused bail.

Ann Marie Doherty, of Upper Violet Street, is charged with attempted murder and possessing a knife with intent on June 8.

Derry Magistrate’s Court heard the 34-year-old had been released on bail to reside at a local hostel.

However, she was reported missing by the hostel after failing to return for two nights.

Defence solicitor Paddy MacDermott told the court people were drinking inside the hostel and she left because she ‘felt herself succumbing to temptation’.

Mr MacDermott said Doherty realises ‘it was a completely stupid thing to do’.

District Judge Barney McElholm refused bail stating ‘I warned her I was not going to allow her to continually breach bail’.

Doherty was remanded in custody to appear in court again on November 5.
