A 21-year-old Limavady man told police he hoped “the ‘Ra would blow the two of you up” when they caught him running bare chested in the town in a pair of shorts at 2am this morning.

Niall Samuel McIlmoyle, of 19 Anderson Park, is on remand facing drugs charges. However, he appeared at Limavady Magistrates Court on Wednesday morning for breaching his bail terms, namely violating his curfew.

A police officer told the court that officers on patrol in the Rossair Road area of the town saw McIlmoyle running down the footpath, bare chested and wearing shorts.

They stopped and spoke with McIlmoyle but he ran off. Police pursued him and he was arrested. The PSNI officer said McIlmoyle told police: “I hope the ‘Ra blow the two of you up”.

The court heard McIlmoyle was intoxicated at the time and a defence solicitor said his client had no recollection of the incident.

District Judge Paul Copeland revoked bail and McIlmoyle was remanded to appear at Limavady Magistrates Court on May 8.
