Cops hurt in creeper burglary car crash

Two police officers have been injured after a car stolen during a creeper burglary collided with their police vehicle.

Police say the creeper burglary happened in the Beverley Gardens area of Derry’s Waterside on the morning August 28.

“At approximately 5.30am, it was reported that a grey BMW 1 Series was taken from a house,” a PSNI spokesman says.

“The car later collided with a police vehicle in the Brockagh Road area of Derry at approximately 12.05pm. Two police officers in the car at the time were injured but their injuries did not require hospital treatment.”

Meanwhile. in an unrelated incident on the same day, a police motorcyclist was taken to hospital after his bike collided with a car on the Victoria Road.

“At approximately 10.40am, a police motorcycle collided with a grey Honda Civic. The police officer on the motorcycle was taken to hospital for treatment to injuries which are not believed to be life threatening,” a PSNI spokesman says.
