A 27 years old Derry man was fined £150 at the city’s Magistrate’s Court on Monday after admitting he had been in possession of three grammes of Cannabis for his own personal use.

Derry court had heard how police had searched the home of James McNally at Moyola Drive on January 9 of last year.

During the search they found a small quantity of cannabis with a street value of approximately £50. They also found drug paraphernalia including a grinder, bowl and scales.

McNally confirmed that the items belonged to him.

His defence solicitor Keith Kyle told the court his client recognised that he had a problem and was seeking help through a number of different avenues including HURT and his GP.
